Toyata Avensis 2.0 2006 - P2002 dpf poor efficiency - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 200
( Optional ) Scanner Used: launch & spi
( Optional) Fault Codes: P2002

currently have this in with above fault code,
advanced driver 22k on the clock with what appears to be blocked dpf,sure enough removed pre trap pressure pipe & totally blocked there is a modyfied larger bore pipe fitted that with the idea of erasing code & re-gen,that is not possible the code returns within a few moments & stops any re-gen proceedure
i contacted the local dealer to see if there kit has a work round but the conversation always ends with "needs a new trap" £1000+
my question is should i remove it clean as best possible & try re-gen?
any help would be apprieciated

done quite few toyota d4d with P2002 - fitted dpf emulator and removed dpf .

There are a wide range of dpf cleaner fluids out there you could use,So far this cleaning method has worked for me,
A dpf emulator will keep the light off but what happens when you have to get your car through a nct!Emmisions could be a problem there i would be thinking!unless you weld on some sort of cat!!

A yes to that, Like Trevor, I have also has success cleaning dpf's.

I would like to know the reason for re-gen failure though.

22k is not a lot for a six to seven year old car, does it get long enough journeys for re-gen to complete?
Does your scan tool display last re-gen info, ie time or distance?

I have had a couple of D4D's with EGRs sticking that have not logged EGR codes, may be worth a look at that.

this car never goes out of town tony,
i think that is the culprit for the blockadge
will aslo check egr whilst in thanks, keith

removed dpf, jet washed for an eternity!
pressure diff before @3000rpm 26 kpa
pressure diff after 1kpa
dam good road test & perfect
one happy "new customer"
a few browny points at the golf course!
oh and a few coppers in the till

as an observation this vehicle is one owner ,dealer serviced & until now the owner was blissfully unaware of the DPF fitted to his car, it had just had a "full service"
surely they should inform him of the requirements for re-gen?ie driving style,
During the service ,what about soot loading?
i am sure if they offered forced re-gen at service he would of taken them up on it
OH i forgot ,then they would of lost out on a £2000 dpf replacement job

not tennis!
