HI, Had this one towed in with fault description cam/crank sync. Checked cam belt timing out by 1/2 tooth it was due new belt so fitted, still no start. Looked on live data and getting fuel pressure and rpm reading and immopliser is working. Scoped cam and crank sensors with no signal off cam sensor so replaced sensor but still non start. Any advice before i start checking wires etc to ecu and rescoping sensors. Same code keeps reappearing. Any one give me any info on what type off sensors are one these they have 3 wires are they ac or hall sensors? what voltage should i get? Thanks Shane

I don't have wiring diagram for this, but if it's three wire I would expect it to be hall effect, so requires a supply and earth, and usually 12v reference from ecu that will be pulled to earth. Could be AC if shielded, quick scoping of each terminal with ignition on and cranking should give you a clue, test and report and we can help more.
Hope this helps
Chris

Hi Shane
I agree with Chris, poke all three wires and report your findings.
Also, you need to start scoping known good cars in your spare time to get a feel for the scope and see what signals different types of sensors give out and why?
What scope have you got?
When I got my scope I had the shock of my life I realised I basically didn't know sh@t about how the ECU managed the engine and the importance of the signals from the sensors or even what signals would be sent from different sensors.
There are loads of training courses (I know time and money) But, to be honest, to get the basics of sensors and their signals, so you can hook up and test confidently with your scope, I would suggest getting a couple of cheap books off Amazon or similar.
I would reccomend the book I first bought for basic electrics was: How to diagnose and repair automotive electrical systems by Tracy Martin
It is very easy reading and packed with info.
The Hiller's automotive books will catapult you forwards with a deeper knowledge of the sensors and the signals they output.
There are plenty of other books that you may prefer these are just a couple that I read and can vouch for.
Lastly, Forgive me if I have mis-read your post and this post comes across patronising that is not how it was intended!

Also you won't go far wrong with the yellow scope book from tech topics. Very easy to follow and examples of common sensor outputs with some setup tips as well.
I bought an auto-solve cd from picotech but I think most of the info can be found foc online .

Thanks for all replies
The pico tutorial was very interesting and allowed me trace the fault to a bad 12v supply on the cam sensor wire which was traced to a green wire which we soldered a new piece in and she started first time.
Thanks again and it is always very interesting to learn as you diagnose. Shane
