Vauxhall Astra 1.7 CDTi 2005 - Code P0500 #

Year of Manufacture *: 55 plate
Engine Size and Code *: 1.7cdti
( Optional) Fault Codes: p0500

this vehicle intermitantly cuts out and dies restarts straight away code p0500 comes up so i replace the crank sensor all seemed ok for a week but its back cutting out again same code any ideas were to start thanks paul

P0500 is VSS not crank sensor???

sorry tony you are right im having a bad day but would this code make the car stall and cut out and go into limp thanks paul

Vehicle speed sensor i dont believe will cause a stall or stop.

Just a thought but has the key got a lot of keyrings on it?? Is it a flip out type key?? sounds daft but i had a similer problem with one and it turned out to be the keyrings swinging and momentarily turning of the ignition.

the car is coming back in next week from memory there were 2 other codes logged it was over a month ago and im sure they were throttle pedal related i will reread it and repost thanks paul

would this code make the car stall and cut out and go into limp = i believe that a vss is definility capable of doing this, in saying that there is no given symptom for vss, but you have to remenber what is its job- to provide a module or modules with vehicle speed input and that data is used to help with other facilities with in the running of the car. For me, even if my post is all a load of rubbish, you have a code and that is something to work with, and i think you will get your fix with this one.
