Ford Transit 2.4 TDi 2004 - Fuel pump removal #

Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Engine Size and Code *: 2.4

Just in the process of changing fuel pump on this van. Can anyone tell me if it's safe to just pin the pump sprocket for removal, or should I remove the whole front cover and pin the cams too?

Chris.

Special tool to hold pump pulley in postion, turns in the cover, so no need to re-move cover with it.

But chains on these wear and give pump related code,s.

We have done a few of these chris as stated you can do in situ with timing tools (about £90) but if you havent done one before i would strongly advise taking the timing cover off and doing chain replacement at the same time and makes job much easier to do for the little extra time it takes to remove the cover etc. even if you dont replace the chain you can know its not worn and is timed up correctly when refitted.

Hi Sean, I've done a few before on the older 1.8's which went ok, just wasn't sure if these were the same, I managed ok anyway, all went to plan.
