Vauxhall Astra 1.7 CDTi 2004 - Non start, code P0380 & P0487 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2004
Engine Size and Code *: 1.7 cdti

Hi

We have an Astra Van 1.7 CDTi (Z17DLT), after reconnecting battery van will not start

No mil or svs lamp on when ignition switched on, codes stored in engine ecu are P0380 glow device error and P0487 throttle control device malfunction and in immobilizer there is a code for engine request not received.

We have checked all fuses which are ok

Has anyone come across this before?

New battery fitted.
New alternator or starter fitted.
You disconnect the battery for many reasons.

You are totally right about the battery being replaced for many reasons, but I think Kevin was trying to find out some history about the vehicle in question as it may help pin down the current issue.

It may not help at all but it would not hurt to have the info.

Ive come across something simalar on combos of simalar year after a flat battery . If its got the main ecu on top of the engine.
Check the ecu has the chassis no in the id, if you can with your scan tool.
They have been known to lose the ecu program.
A reprogram and immobiliser matching usually fixes it.hth.

Hi All

The battery was removed along with the battery tray to gain access to some leaking water hoses. After further investigation we found out this is a common problem, the fault being in the powertrain ecu, this has now been repaired and refitted this afternoon, vehicle is now up and running.
