Mercedes Benz C270 CDi 2005 - Will not change up, code P2203 #

Year of Manufacture *: 2005 Engine Size and Code *: 2.7 612.962 ( Optional ) Scanner Used: Solus pro ( Optional) Fault Codes: P2203
I've a 2005 Mercedes C270 2.7 CDI, Automatic. The customer complain the I wouldn't change up through the gears, and a MIL was on. I drove the car, and Yes the Car would in fact stay in first gear. I plugged my Solus pro up to it, and the following error code was present, P2203. The solus Pro's description for this fault code was, speed sensor 3 is faulty. I checked the live data, and it was in emergency running, and The target gear, and actual gear was implausible. I cleared the fault codes, and everything went back to ok. I thought maybe a sensor got wet, and dried out, but a week later the same has happened. My next step is to check the suspect component, the thing is I haven't a clue where it is. I have checked auto data and as always the fault code description is different. It says, Fault description, Nitrogen oxides (nox) sensor, bank 1-high input. Auto data doesn't show either of the mentioned sensors in component locations, or wiring diagrams, I don't really want to just go at the car blind guessing components. I think I've given all the correct details. Has anyone come accross such problems, or the same fault code, are the solus pro and autodata's fault code description mean the same, are they on about the same sensor, and where is it located.

Check the battery condition, and cranking battery voltage. I seem to remember the C class gearbox goes into limp if voltage drops too low.

As regards the fault code descriptions, I think you may be getting confused between the engine and the trans. Either that or Autodata is even worse than I thought.
The speed sensor is in the gearbox, in whats commonly known as the electric pack.
The usual cause of the speed sensor code is the speed sensor signal. The first thing to check is for trans fluid in the trans plug. If you have fluid here you need to change the socket the plug goes into and its O ring, clean up the loom as best possible. If you have fluid here you should also check for trans fluid at the other end of the loom at he ecu plug and in the control unit itself. The second common cause of this code is the electric pack in the trans. If you need to change it you need to drop the trans sump and valve chest. Simple enough job.
If there is fluid in the plug you could clean it, charge the customer and let him off warning him it might need an electric pack or you could just fit both the pack and the new socket.
It would be worth your while learning these systems as there are loads of them around and they give plenty of problems. Its also a good idea to do a glycol test on any you work on. I would think google would have lots of info on this.
