Customer complaint is poor starting but typically starts fine for me!
My first move was a new fuel filter with no real improvement.
It does however have a very erratic idle, the engine nearly dies, surges and then steadies again. As it surges there is a certain amount of diesel knock that is not normally heard. Looking at rail pressure when the symptoms are apparent it drops to approx 18MPa when it fades away and when noisy it is up to approx 46MPa, when idling ok it is shown as 30MPa. I don't have any means of confirming rail pressure but it would appear the pressure sensor is working correctly as the reported pressure appears in line with the symptoms. I am thinking the pressure regulator valve is faulty but unfortunately it is not available from Mazda as a seperate part, complete pump only.
The valve is marked "006" on one line and "12E-11288" on a line below. Does anyone know where I can obtain one? I have talked to P.B.Asher but they do not recognise that number as a Denso number.
Driveability is normal under power but will stall occasionally coming to a standstill at junctions.
Just found out the price of a complete pump £1804.95+vat!
It also transpires that I am not the first person who has looked at this problem, the last one said she would need a complete engine!
