Nissan X Trail 2.2 DCi 2004 - Intermittent loss of power, code P0089 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2004
Engine Size and Code *: 2.2 dci
( Optional ) Scanner Used: kts
( Optional) Fault Codes: p0089

Hi all
Got the above vehicle in at the moment, intermitent loss of power. Fault coded and p0089 fuel pump fault p1273 fuel pump signal improbable stored. Looked in archieves and these give alot of problems with the fuel pumps. What i would like to know is how bad a job it is to fit the fuel pump. Also would the fuel injectors cause these fault codes. Any info would be most gratefull.

What testing have you done with regard to the fault codes ?

Hi Mark
Thanks for the reply havent done much testing at all, road tested a few times but fault never occurs with me. Fuel pressure looks fine on road test, only thing is it flucuates when idling between 190 bar and 300 bar.

If this is the same as the early ones they have a vac valve on the back of the pump that gives problems this should be changed together with a genuine fuel filter and reset the adaptions.
The one i done was a 2001, also did a 2000 one that needed a pump the easiest way to change the pump is engine out but watch as the cam chains are know to stretch.

hi jamie,if you still have this to sort out you can buy a suction valve for pump and then it needs dealer machine to set it,personally i would just have old valve reset,not sure if any other machines can do this.

i had one last year it turned out to be the fuel filter as they do not get changed on the service as its not a service item i was told ?

hi jamie,had the same fault recentley,suction valve on back of pump controls pressure flow, i fit a new valve then found that it had to be calabrated,part A6860AW42B,dealer had to calabrate it,which made me wonder if just calibration would have sorted it,some injection guys may have kit required.

Hi all
Thanks for all your replies. Last week used the vehicle and took it on some long road tests. Eventually it got worse, it was fine on acceleration but at idle was the problem. Fuel pressure was at 600 bar at idle so decided it was a fault on pump. Local dealer said couldnt buy the scv on the pump and new pump was £1100. Phoned the guys where i get my injectors done at had a valve in stock. Got the valve today fitted it re-adapted and everything is fine. Tried re-adapting the old valve but was no good, my bosch kts re-adapted the valve no bother. Thanks again for your replies.
