Hi all
Had the above vehicle in yesterday with the message particulate filter regeneration cyle urgent coming up on the centre console and a picture of a particulate filter on the dash. Fault coded the engine and the additive ecu's and no fault codes present. Checked in live data in the engine ecu the particulate filter load was 18% and the pressure sensor difference with the KOEO was 0 millibar KOER was 0 millibar a good hard rev and it went up to about 20 millibar. KOEO with a mityvac gauge on the rear pipe of the pressure sensor at 5 in hg the reading in live data was 117 millibar and it should been about 160 millibar i think, so i decided to replace the sensor but still no good the message kept coming up on start up. Took the vehicle for a long run but still no good, i then decided to reset the filter replacement and the light doesnt come on any more. What i was wanting is a bit of advice regarding the filter should i change or leave it? The vehicle has done 66,000 miles, sorry for the long post any advice would be most appreicated.

Hi Jamie

These systems are struggling to work correctly particularly with urban cycle running.

You will see many with display warning on but the parameters seem OK.

Check the recommended replacement interval and if close to it consider replacement.

If you have fooled the car by re setting particle filter soot to zero and also checked the additive ecu and reset the counter to zero then ask the customer to now monitor the car.

If you get display message back within a couple of weeks or even months then filter required because the cerine fluid gets baked onto the filter element(regen only burning soot away).

Looks as if the filter is blocked from those figures can you not do a forced regen with Dec, also cannot remember but do these have addative tank like the 406 that runs out at about 60k

Kelly

Hi Kelly and Simon
Thanks for the replies, it is recommened that the filter is changed at 72000 miles so i have advised the customer to get it replaced but he's going to run it for the time been. Tried to do a regen with dec scan but it wouldnt do it. Once again thanks for the replies.

Hi Jamie,

further info...at wot 3rd gear a good particle filter will show a mb reading around 300 to 500mb approx.

At 1050 mb blocked message will be displayed.
Regen...it will only allow it at certain times even a forced regen can not be done if it has been done or attempted more than 4 times.

Some later cars will not allow a stationary regen now as engines have been lost.
The manufacturers software stopping you.

So i only now carry out on the road regen.
Criteria are min 1/4 tank of fuel...no codes in engine ecu....speed above 60mph then at this speed select on scan tool road regen.

Hi Simon
Thanks for reply and some info, 3rd gear wot was only showing 170 mb. Tried to do road regen dec said over 40mph and still would not do it, maybe need to try at 60mph as you say. As i say customer has got car back now thanks again.
