There is no Rover dealer round here any more I don't suppose you have any idea what the equivalent BMW parts are? My BMW dealer is quite helpful but is reluctant to get involved in solving Rover problems. I imagine the "Official" way of fixing it would be to replace the entire exhaust system (and lots of other stuff too) at great expense. It looks bad but is really no worse than, say an afternoons worth of garden bonfire! The problem is that I suspect it will only really clear by being "Driven" and producing all that smoke "On the road" is likely to attract attention! It is however largly out of my hands now but will report back if anything of interest devellops.
