thanks for the reply tony.i have stripped out battery tray and trunking and am happy with the wiring.i am now mainly concerned with the working fundamentals of a fuel quantity adjuster and havent a clue how it works.it is supplied with battery voltage via a fuse and a relay ,i can confirm battery voltage.i am unsure what happens with the voltage supply inside the pump but the diagram shows the wiring of the quantity adjuster leaving the pump and teeing into 2 adjacent terminals of the ecu.the wiring is fairly large crossection when compared to other terminals so i think it must carry more current than signal.my theory is does it work similarly to an old type idle speed control valve and has to work on a duty cycle to keep it or move it to a position that is determined by the ecu.if the ecu has failed in this area then maybe the quantity adjuster has been moved to its furthest extent in one direction hence the code.if that sounds feasible has anyone any ideas what the scope should be setup to and any values i should look for.or am i barking up the wrong tree regards paul ps i am more certain now thar the dual mass flywheel theory is more an effect of this fault and not the cause
