A few weeks past now with no reports of problems, so lets assume its fixed . With hindsight it seems that the depression limiter valve had cured the smoking & I just didn't give it time to clear the remaining oily residue hanging around in the exhaust system. The rail pressure pressure sensor did have some signs of corrosion & the alloy wheel cleaner method was used to clear it away. It still ran a bit nasty at 2,000 rpm although there was a small improvement. However if used normally, there were no noticeable defects. Lets face it, they aren't designed to run at fast idle for 10 minutes in normal use. Thanks for the pointers gents Cheers Dave (Hill)
