Never posted here, so Hello all. I have a Focus 1.8TDCi on a 51 plate. Came in for a miss/vibration on idle. Feels like it is off about half a pot. You can feel it shaking through the body on idle and also as you bring the revs up. Doesn’t feel down on power much on the road. Cleaned out the EGR valve as well as possible with the manifold on and it is sealing OK. Had a diesel tech round (I don’t have any diagnostics) . Came up with DTC P1200 Injector – range performance problem - Probable cause Wiring/injector/ECM The injectors were removed and two were not opening at the pressures available on the test bench. Compressions were checked and valve clearances. Firing voltages etc from the ECM to the injectors checked. The two injectors were replaced and programmed in but the fault was no different. Having checked everything?? else and hearing that these injectors should be replaced as a set I bought 2 more injectors and, as you have already guessed, it is no different.
I have had something similar to this vibration/miss on a TDCi but with a lot of associated noise from the clutch area and it was a broken DMF. This one wass new 16000 miles ago.
Any ideas?? I’m desperate now as I have lent the customer the wife’s car and she will need it back soon (not to mention wanting the damn thing fixed and out of my garage!!) Sorry for the long post. Cheers, Duncan
