We've had to replace the main ecu as well before now (can't remember the exact fault, but would cut out for a while).....I suspect that they suffer from heat damage, especially if the car is hammered alot.....poor design bolting sensitive electronic equipment to the cylinder head...seems strange that manufacturers are all going down this way....
