Suzuki Grand Vitara 2002 RHZ (peugeot) - Noise after cam belt fitting and cutting out #Archived Message

Had this in for straight forward cam belt change (or so I thought!). Fitted yesterday and road tested all seemed ok. Customer returned this morning complaining of a dreadful noise and then the engine would die. Symptoms are these. Engine starts and runs without any problems but if the revs are raised to the point that the turbo cuts in there is an horrendous sound like valves hitting pistons then the engine dies, on restarting there is a reluctance to fire that clears itself after several revolutions and then it runs (thankfully) quite normally until it is revved and then the same thing happens. Scan shows no trouble codes.Any ideas?
