Hi

if this has a return pipe leak off union on the fuel rail pull the pipe off it, if it leaks diesel out of it when you crank the fuel rail pressure relief valve is leaking off fuel pressure & would account for losing injector pulse,
have had this a few times on these, it is available separate from the rail if it's bosch
