2.1. Natural regeneration
When the exhaust temperature reaches the regeneration limit itself (high engine load) The particles burn naturally in the particle filter. No external actions are performed to activate regeneration.
2.2. Artificial regeneration (regeneration assistance)
The regeneration assistance is a set of conditions (load acquiring) managed by the injection ECU the aim of which is to increase the temperature of the exhaust gas to the regeneration threshold.
The load acquiring consists of increasing the vehicle's electrical consumption to meet functional requirements Example : Particle filter (FAP).
By increasing the resistant torque of the alternator, the torque of the combustion engine increases, as does the temperature of the combustion engine.
The load acquiring permits a faster increase in the temperature of the combustion engine in order to improve the regeneration of the particle filter on diesel vehicles.
The BSI receives a load acquiring request from the engine ECU via the CAN.
The BSI forces the activation of the power consuming equipment in the order indicated in the table.
Level of load acquiring Functions
0 No load acquiring (normal operation)
1 Activation of the heated rear screen
2 Activation of the fan assembly at low speed
3 Activation of the fan assembly at medium speed
4 Activation of the pre-heat glow plugs
N.B. : During load acquiring, no information concerning the activation of the power consuming equipment is given to the driver.
