Came down to couple of problems, 1st one causing the other, kind of. edit orginal post to code P0335
Other garage had fitted new pattern sensor, car wouldn't start at all with that on it, then they refitted old one.
I got it in done some testing testing but thought it still had new sensor on it as it looked pretty fresh, classic signs of failing ckp, told them would have to put genuine on. Gave us the go ahead and told me they they had put old back on. No start with pattern part on(clue here)
Couple of days new sensor comes, one of lads bangs it on, No go.
Back to testing.
It was that voltage off 2.3/2.4 volts on the two signal wires, that threw me off initially, checked earths etc Then onto the forum, my head was melted.
Worked through Tonys pdf's everything checking out fine(apart from above voltage but I chose to accept it as good)Everything checking out great.Back to signal on scope, weak.
Cant be crank itself can it, put the car up in the air, doesn't look like ckp it seated correctly, dammit, bet its air gap.
Removed, cleaned up face, took oil seal out, Bang stated first go!! happy days. Bit more cleaning of mating surface refit seal and it has started every time since.
Here is my theory. Original sensor starting to fail, original fault, pattern and new genuine not fitting snug with rust etc hence no start with them.
Morale of story, remember the basics..
