I am guessing that the EGR gets operated more aggressively after the fix, so a weak one (Which they all are anyway) is more likely to fail shortly after the fix is done.

It is of course no consolation to know that it was already on its way out anyway and owners will not believe it unless they are warned in advance (And even then....) :/

I have been advising people Not, I cant think of any possible advantage of having it done and plenty of possibilities for disadvantages.
