I have no facility for accurately checking the fuel, except to say that I had a long chat with the first garage who said they insisted on seeing the fuel receipt which showed the owner definatly filled up with diesel the second time, and after all,they did do 100 miles after filling up before it packed up.
A good point about the timing chain, but it has run a couple of times whilst with me, all be it only for a few minutes.
Has given me food for thought though, thank you both.
Will let you know how I get on, but wishing I had'nt taken this one on.
