Engine noisy, sometimes poor starting.

P0216=Fuel injection timing control - circuit malfunction

I have found A previous thread on this matter but there was no resolution posted.

I have checked the continuity for the timing solenoid circuit at the injection pump ECU loom terminal.

I have also replaced the pump ECU (There were obvious dry joints so I got a new one from ACtronics in the hope that this might account for it)

However, fault is still present. It is a "Hard" fault (IE it will not clear even when the engine is not running)

Thus far I have not replaced anything that didn't need replacing but wish to proceed with caution.

The other thread suggested that the main ECU might be at fault (One example was given where this turned out to be the case)

I was just wondering if there had been any further experience of this fault scenario since 2009 and what the solution ended up being.
