Bad job this, clearly not your fault but still a lot of hassle.
My understanding, but you will need to check this out, is that when you sign up for MOT testing you agree to be responsible for any damage to customers vehicle while in your care whether its your fault or not.
It would be a good idea to check out your insurance as you may be covered under your public liability, this may be a gray area because a) insures seem to be putting ever more clauses in and b) you normally have to be a fault (negligent) which you deny.
