Local independent Peugeot mobile specialist helped me out, came to see it and as mark thought checked the earth path from the fps with a power probe.the car started and ran fine when he by passed the ecu internal earth path.
As a compromise he piggy backed the sensor earth to a known earth at the ecu and ran the car through a full warm up cycle and so far has run fine, said he has used that method many times before.
Makes me wonder if the original problem was a deteriorating earth track in the ecu and I was unlucky enough to be testing in that vicinity when it failed completely, probably never know.
Mark can't thank you enough again for you're time and advise, likewise Ian many regards Paul
