Year of Manufacture *: 56
Engine Size and Code *: 1.9D (Lucas system)
Each "Burst" will last about 10-20 seconds or so.
This is not a turbo engine, nor is it overfilled with oil.
However I did find that the EGR pipe was wet internally. I have disconnected the EGR valve to see if the problem recurs.
(I am working on the basis that if it doesn't, the EGR system is the route by which oil is getting into the inlet manifold)
There is a fair amount of blow by gas on this and there is an oil leak which appears to be coming from the head gasket flange at the rear of the engine at the gearbox end (Where is the cylinder head oil way on these)
Anybody heard of anything like this before?
Is it likely to be a head/head gasket fault that might be repairable? Or just an old engine issue that is best left alone if disconnecting the EGR system stops the problem from occuring!
