I have this Golf with MIL on and fault code
16683 Boost Pressure Regulation: Control Range Not Reached
When reading live data the boost pressure is down by about a third.
At idle the desired is 1060mbar and actual is approx 600mbar
The garage has already replaced the charge air pressure sensor [J31] and the MAF with original items. I cleaned both items as a precaution.
I have smoked the intake [ok]
Pulled down the waste gate with a mitivac and am getting full boost, there is no excess smoke.
Throttle shut off valve open whilst running.
EGR shows good on desired and actual 250mg/STR, however, after about 2 minutes of idle the actual jumps to 410mg/STR. At this point the vacuum is lost from the EGR. With a scope on the vacuum control solenoids the PCM is switching off its pull down command, thus the lack of vacuum. Does this happen on a known good vehicle, if so why would the desired still be at 250mg/STR? I have re checked this and it happens every time, when the engine is revved again vacuum is returned for about 2 minutes.
Does anyone know of a software update for issues like this one?
Any help would be gratefully accepted
Regards
Simon
