Personally I wouldn't put an ECU that has had a soaking and showed signs of water damage back in a car: we had our ECU apart and you could see where the water ingress had accelerated the corrosion on the inside of the casing; also a USB microscope showed damaged tracks on the PCB, which you wouldn't have been able to see easily with the name eye. Game over as far as I am concerned.
We put a new ECU in using Tech 2/MDI and it's been spot on since. I think the new ECU was about £800 from Vauxhall (could be wrong?). Car was a 58 plate and low mileage so didn't mess around with alternatives. You will need the vehicles car pass to put a new one in.
Hope this helps,
Barney.
