we had a very similar problem ecu shorted to battery pos non start and no comms with abs etc we took it to a dealer who I know and trust and he said its common for this to happen and recommended an ecu the next day the master tech I knew rang and said the internal earths were blown and he repaired it with an external earth (he just tried it to see if it would work )and it does
