To be fair I'm not sure where an oil test will get you. I haven't read the owners manual for the 500 but I'd be pretty sure there will be something in there saying "check your levels once a week/month etc". We all know the diesel contamination is a given on DPF vehicles and it doesn't happen overnight so I imagine Fiat will escape liability very easily.
