Year of Manufacture *: 2005
Engine Size and Code *: 1.4
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Multiscan
( Optional) Fault Codes: None
First saw it last week, when it was showing one code:- P0504 Brake switch A/B correlation. Removed and cleaned switches and refitted checking for switching operation.
Fitted new fuel filter. Drove fine on roadtest although possibly a little bit lifeless (but then it has done 102600 miles).
Customer experienced problems over the weekend.
Now showing no codes.
Fitted two new switches as a precaution.
After about 3 miles on test I start to get the symptoms:-
1. Power is lost completely, no apparent combustion.
2. Tacho stays constant/decays as speed does.
3. power comes back spontaneously.
4. Fuel rail pressure does not appear to drop usually but sometimes appears to drop after picking up (could this just be that the data is delayed in transmission and display?), unfortunately Multiscan is not prepared to graph the data.
5. Occasionally the MIL and the alternator warning lamp briefly flicker.
My thoughts are that the crank sensor is probably ok as the tacho stays working.
I intend to check the engine management relays, wiring etc. Could it be a fault with the IMV etc. without lodging any fault codes?
