>>>The injectors had no coding ref numbers on them so we have not done this - would this cause non start? <<<
No! Injector correction factor coding, in essence is merely a minor trimming function & will not influence the ability of an engine to run (with one or two exceptions). Unless you have a specific DTC relating to injector coding, I wouldn't be too concerned with that right now.
Forget scoping voltage on common rail injectors. “Current” is all you are interested in, as it shows the actual "work done" rather than the less relevant electrical processes that are done behind the scenes. Trust me, you won't get your head around the voltage waveforms so long as you have got a hole in your ar5e!

>>12v ECU drops to 10v cranking even with jump battery attached <<
This is a mistake in my experience. Either charge & confirm the serviceability of the vehicles own battery first, or fit a suitable “loaner” for the sake of testing. Jump leads are just too unpredictable when you need to rely on a good power supply. The job is hard enough, without wondering later on, if your starter motor was starved of resources!
>>>Can anyone supply me with ECU pin out data for this beast AD have none.<<<
Have you telephoned AutoData & played hell? This is an old donkey now & if they haven't got it covered, then it demonstrates their complacency I reckon.
One other thing that stands out Simon & that is that you have double checked & triple checked the timing. Surely it is best to make sure that, when the key is turned, then it is with 100% confidence?
All that aside, my personal view is that you need to establish the basics.
Can you challenge the high pressure pump to the MAX & scope the rial pressure, whilst cranking?
If you can scope the injector current, then you can asses whether they are being commanded or not & if they are, is there any fuel actually being injected?
Remember, it is one thing that the solenoid is being energised & it is another thing, that the injector needle actually lifts off it's seat & fuel is squirted. Hard to prove with a scope alone!
