Year of Manufacture *: 2005
Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 / Y20DTH
( Optional ) ECU Type: PSG16
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Tech 2
( Optional) Fault Codes: P0638, P1590
The above codes were retreived when we first saw this and it would ocassionally cut out when warming up, this was due to a faulty throttle valve position sensor in turn causing the swirl flap to close starving the engine of air, the tvps is not available separately it was replaced with the upper slice of the inlet manifold which includes the boost press sensor and the throttle diaphragm, the lower manifold and EGR was removed at the same time to de-carbon.
I was unable to clear P1590 (vac sol valve) but P0638 did clear so road tested and found it to surge on accel and then driven up a long hill went into limp returning with P1590 vac solenoid and now also P0638 throttle control plus P0234 boost, P0070 Ambient air temp, P0100 AMM,
Again I can clear all codes except P1590- (solenoid for the vac resevoir) as I couldn't find this solenoid I went into ECU multiplug B to reverse trace it but relevant pin39 is empty as I have found the vacuum resevoir is not fitted on the 2.0 but only on the 2.2
When looking through with Tech2 I noticed the engine code is set as Y22DTL instead of Y20DTH so I guess it will be looking for the missing solenoid if configured wrongly?
Now this has a 'new' looking PSG16 pump/ECU fitted but I have reprogrammed the correct engine variant into the instrument pack module but it won't change and I am unable to find any option to alter it in coding or variants in the CIM or Engine modules, so am I missing something or has it had a used pump/ECU fitted from a 2.2 and that's why I can't alter it??
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as usual sorry for the very long post!
