Vehicle came to us, headless after being at another garage for 12weeks. Apparently, it had overheated and stopped, causing cylinder head damage, but no evidence of piston or bore damage. New cylinder head fitted, timing belts, new glow plugs and temp senders. Timing spot on (re-checked just in case).
After initial bleed, vehicle started and ran for approx 10-15 seconds, then cut-out.
Re-bleed, and it starts sporadically. (Fuel pressure from the injection pump seems to tail off during cranking).
Glow plugs working as desired (power at the plugs too – I’m aware of the management relay faults).
Stop solenoid has power (during cranking) but removed plunger to make sure it was not restricting flow into the pump.
Small return valve on the bleed screw at the top of pump has been removed to make sure no air is being retained within the pump and refitted.
I’ve tried an external gravity fed fuel source – no difference.
Runs on brake cleaner quite happily, so I’m beginning to think the injection pump is shot?? Are these coded or plug and play?
I thought this may be immobiliser related, but no codes present in the immobiliser system (but I'd have thought no power to stop solenoid if that was the case)....
Hairless Tony!
(Fault codes only present because intercooler not currently fitted and temp sender code to confirm current codes are being read)
