I hear what you are saying, but I have done just that dozens of times when the vehicle is warm and straight after running it without never having a issue.
I am fully aware of the delicate nature of this system. IE. after a head gasket. After talking to some of the best brains in the diesel world the general option appears to be with letting the fuel drain from the injector and then the residue gumming up the internals.
