forgot to mention - following autodata testing of egr valve resistance should be 8 ohms between pin 1 and 5 which ive got, then it goes on to test pins 2 and 4 and 2 and 6(egr position sensor) which should be about 4k ohms, neither of which have any resistance
maybe ive answered my own question as this definately points to egr valve itself though i dont want to spend 150plus vat on new one.
