hi phil,i would start with checking cranking speed and fuel pressure scope testing at pressure sensor in fuel rail this will give you an indication of pressure generated by pump.i have been to this kind of fault before are the parts news or second hand.peugeot hdi i posted about had over £1000 spent on it by 3 diffenet garages. start with the basics and remember test dont guess....
