Year of Manufacture *: 2003 Engine Size and Code *: d5244t 2500cc ( Optional ) ECU Type: bosch ( Optional ) Scanner Used: modis and carmenscan ( Optional) Fault Codes: p0094 fuel system leak detected(small leak)
vehicle drove to us with light on dash illuminated and message engine service reqd immediately.read codes -- p0094 fuel system leak detected which cleared ok but reappeared within 3 or 4 miles .no external leaks apparent.injector leak off tests proved ok.changed fuel filter in case delivery was impaired after the cold snap.when checking for flow and pressure it became evident intank pump was delivering far too little fuel and at 0 pressure although the pump "sounded" nice and quiet.on removal it was noted the tank was a saddle type with a left and right hand tank sender unit the pump incorporates the rh sender and also some hard plastic piping that meanders over to the lh side with a pickup and return pipe to the rh .with the pump seperated from the piping and connected to the battery the pump supplies loads of pressur and flow.my query is how does the level stay equal in both sides of the tank and how does the piping arrangement in the tank work in regards to the various valves and pickups and swirlpot arrangement.i think the new pump assembly will cure the problem but am curious as to how the system works.thanks in advance paul
