Year of Manufacture *: 2003 Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 TDCI Automatic ( Optional ) ECU Type: Delphi ( Optional ) Scanner Used: IDS ( Optional) Fault Codes: P0335 CKP, P0500 VSS, P1700, U2200
Looking for some advice on this one - everytime you turn the key it will start and cut out. Always brings back code P0335 for the crank sensor. Previous garage had already changed crank and cam sensors. In live data no engine speed however engine speed is in the automatic gearbox and shows up on the dash. This car has the engine ECU and a separate injection control unit. The crank and CAM sensor both go to the ICU and I have scoped them - both are correct. However, the ICU generates engine speed signal and sends it to PIN 57 on the engine ECU this signal is there but I believe it is incorrect. It is a digital signal the engine ECU puts out 12 volts and the ICU switches it to negative. Autodata shows it as a 12 volt digital signal however on this car it's only 2.5 volts. I have cut the wire to pin 57 and used a sensor simulator and the engine ECU recognises it and shows engine speed in live data also the 12 volts are present with the ICU disconnected and ignition on and I have proved the wiring is ok. To me this points towards a faulty ICU but could it be that its a non-start strategy due to a timing error? Or perhaps the other two fault codes that appear P1700 transmission failed to engage neutral and P0500 vehicle speed sensor (which as the car is an automatic it doesn't have) are influencing the readings? Has anyone seen this before? Also on the gear-selector when you select a gear should the indicator on the gate show red? (IDS appears to say it should?)The only other code is in the dash U2200, possibly linked? The dash panel shows which gear is selected correctly but nothing shows on the selector, is this correct? p.s I have also re-flashed the engine ICU and gearbox - it didn't make any difference
