Basically this car came to us as a non runner and was booked in to have the high pressure fuel pump replaced, we took it off and had it tested which it passed inspection, refitted still not running, did what i would have done first had the customer not asked for fuel pump replacement and did leak back check. this was bad and so had injectors reconditioned and it started first turn of the key. after 20 miles it started to knock heavily and smoke under acceleration, one of the injectors failed sent it back and refitted it after and now it does not knock, they tell me there was no swarf or fillings in the injectors when they stripped them down just worn.
So on road test again it became apparent that there was another fault and now when you accelerate the fuel pressure shoots up to 1800 bar and the engine dies the further you go the worst it gets and the engine rattles due to excess pressure but if you accelerate slo9wly its fine! of course now I'm into the its your fault syndrome Even tho it did this before it failed to start, Ive rear a lot about pump failures but the company i used for testing i am quite happy know what they are doing.i will try and find the rail pressure sensor wherever this is as i have no data on this car and hope its that at fault.it has 1000 bar cranking when the fault is there! any thoughts appreciated
