A Mickey Mouse after market MAF sensor proved to be the culprit. I replaced it with a genuine Vauxhall part and no more problems.

Maximum MAF reading from after market MAF - 1281 mg/st
Maximum MAF from genuine Bosch unit - 1000 mg/st

All other live data remained the same.
