I would be advising that the engine is hopelessly compromised after something like that. Even if you do solve the immediate problems there is the risk that a BEB or piston could let go 2-3 months down the line!
(A bit like when an engine sucks in water, you might get it to run OK afterwards but you cannot guarantee long term reliability. I had one such last year. Seemed fine for about 6 weeks after the event, then the a piston crown shererd off and rattled arround in the bore. Still ran though! Amazing!)
If the "Immediate problems" can be solved inexpensivly then it is still worth a go, but with these modern ones even minor problems can end up costing hundreds (if not thousands) and still leave you nowhere nearer a solution!
