And..... I was talking to a friend of mine last night who works for Honda. He mentioned that these engines can be a real pig to start when new, as the hydraulic tappits drain down. Apparently, you have to crank them for ages and it will gradually start to pick up on cylinder at a time.

He also mentioned fuel pressure, as its very easy to leave the drive pin out of the fuel pump shaft when assembling it on to the engine. HTH.

Oh, and do you know what caused the original failure? Did the oil pump drive chain fail? If it did, he mentioned that its probebly taken the turbo out as well due to loss of oil pressure.
