Primary in tank pump showed 2 bar but tandem pump pressure was very slow to increase on hot cranking. When 2.5 bar was reached engine would start to fire and then run but be very difficult to restart if switched off.
So a replacement tandem pump was fitted - this made no difference at all.Next new injector seals were fitted, again no improvement.Still low pressure from tandem pump.No leaks could be found elsewhere in the fuel system. So what was the problem?
Just about to claim for faulty new tandem pump when I caught a whiff of UNLEADED PETROL at the filler neck! Yes this was a case of miss-fueling. It was very deceptive as during previous testing the fuel appeared and smelt to be pure diesel.
Anybody know of a test for diesel / petrol mixture?
