Re: Mercedes / Semi Automatic * Fixed *

I have seen quite a few of these symptoms due to a bad air mass. I quickly checked one for a garage as a last minute job and confirmed a bad AMM. They then fitted a Bosch unit from a company that sells parts for european cars. Perfect for 2 days and then the same symptoms. It came back to me and it was a bad AMM again. It was swapped under warranty. It lasted a week and they brought it back to me again. This time I was thinking something was causing the failure. I couldn't fault anything else so I said to go to Merc for it but they didn't want to spend that much. Any way it turned out this garage changed the AMM 3 times before going to the dealer and with the genuine one fitted the car was fine ever since. One of the faulty ones was so bad it would feel like it changed down to 1st and nearly give you whiplash. Also remember the Mercs can have a bad AMM that doesn't come to light until you disconnect the battery. Worth plugging in first and check the fuel adaptations. Liam
