Re: Floral border Posted by David Hoexter on May 12, 2022, 1:15 pm, in reply to "Floral border" Susan, if you access your Boy Piping pattern 1949, you will note that the border is identified as "Floral and Botanical / Floral / Chain of flowers". That name is actually a link, and if you click on the link, you will access a page with all TCC DB identified patterns with that border (55 as of this morning). It's a great feature and new to our updated DB-3. Some of the linked patterns of course, don't appear to apply, but others look to me to be the same as Boy Piping. You can peruse the thumbnails, click on the pattern name, and you will be transported to the specific pattern entry. You can also conduct a search of all patterns in the sub-category "British Themes / Rural and Genre Scenes", although obviously this border might have been used for other patterns which we catalogue in a different category or sub-category. Have fun!

I have been through them all and don't see any that match the Boy Piping border.

Re: Floral border Posted by Scott Hanson on May 12, 2022, 12:13 pm, in reply to "Floral border" Susan, Richard Halliday has identified a shard of this border excavated at my 1827 Maine house as being from a tea cup in the Boy Piping pattern. He indicated that the pattern was produced in both dinnerware and teawares with slight differences in the borders between the two. He said the teaware pieces are less common than dinnerware pieces. Since he did not suggest it might be any other pattern with this border, I assume he does not know of any others. Scott

I've been working on this project nearly a decade and have had some of my notes disappear due to our office rebuild. But it seems to me I recall finding other patterns with this same border, like Boy Piping, unattributed. At any rate, I can add this pattern was used in sanitary wares also; our artifact is a chamber pot. Our site is the San Diego Presidio in California.
