My name in Cindy Adler. I am hoping you or one of your members can help me. I just purchased this covered cheese dish from an estate sale. The bottom is marked: Copeland Late Spode (1894 - 1910). I have been trying to find the name of the pattern and any other info that could be helpful. I have been unsuccessful.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance, Cindy Adler Palm Desert, CA 760-360-7664
Hi Cindy, This is a lovely cheese dish with a bright, pleasing pattern and details such as the gadrooning on the edge of the base. The mark is #266 in Copeland's Spode & Copeland Marks 2nd edition 1977, p. 172. The dates for its usage are just what you give. The registered number 180288 & England which was registered on 11 Sept 1894 is for this trade mark and not for the pattern or design on which it occurs. You show no hand-painted pattern number on the underside of the piece. Copeland produced many thousands of patterns each year with no name on the printed mark, that we usually rely on the painted pattern number for identification. That is the only identification you can expect to find on lovely patterns such as this one. I'm sorry that I can't provide any more information. Thank you for contacting us! Enjoy your lovely piece.
Hi Connie, Thank you sooo much. You have been a great help. Lots of good info. At least I know to stop searching for the pattern name. Stay well, Cindy
