Re: Help Identify this Transferware in a Hawaiian Palace
|
Thank you for looking into the wares, any results? I was able to return to the palace and get access to the wares to look for marks. and take a few better images of the fronts. The small plates in the collection had no detectable marks on the back. The larger platter had a roughly .5 inch rectangular stamp with illegible text inside. I enlarged the images and played with the exposure to try to help bring some detail out, but no serious luck. If I had to guess I would say it reads RF & EG, but with low confidence. One of the covered dishes has what looks like a "2" stamped in the interior of the foot ring and small rectangular shape possibly an "I" stamped in the bottom. The other Covered dish has an "S" stamped in the bottom. None of these vessels have any text or printed symbols, though they all share the same scenic imagery. I've been looking through Coysh and Henrywood's B&W dictionary volumes but no direct matches. Thank you for any help in identify these marks.
