I thought my grandfather had two sons, then a daughter, then my mother, born in 1923 out of wedlock. There was no divorce yet he was always part of the family. I didn't know until I was an adult that he wasn't married to my grandmother, Della Miller, a widow who was born in Ireland.
I vaguely remember his children at my grandmother's home on some occasions and remember going to see his daughter at her home once. His one son was a doctor, the other a lawyer and I believe his other daughter was also a college graduate. He was angry with my mother because she married young and didn't go to college.
My grandfather was a policeman and later had a private investigator firm. I seem to recall that one son, the doctor went to live in Ireland.
