Hello Dave, Does your piglet have 3 lugs on the low voltage side (X1, X2, and X3)? If so, the center tap of the LV side may be internally connected to the core and case. Disconnect all voltage inputs to the LV side and check for continuity between one of the X lugs (it doesn't matter which) and the case. If you measure continuity you'll need to disconnect this internal connection so that you can run the pig properly with a ballast from a 240 volt source while keeping the case at earth potential. Best regards, -- Bert --
: Hi again ,here is my question,..I have wired up my little 1.5kva pig for a
: low power test. The trans is sitting on a wooden platform, off the cement
: floor. The trans. tank is connected to a single copper ground rod outside
: my window, 'bout 12'15' away , using heavy wire (old welding cable) I then
: place a volt meter between the tank and the cement floor. When I energize
: the transformer , with no load, the meter reads Zero, but when I draw an
: arc to the case, the meter starts reading voltage, maybe 50v-60v for 160v
: in to the trans. Shouldnt this still be zero, being the case is grounded,
: or am I missing something here ???? /// I need to figure this out be for
: a full power run( Im still workin on my current limiter choke)
: Thankyou,dave
