I suggest taking the animal to a vet familiar with small mammals. It's very difficult to tell from your description what the cause of not eating might be.
Some questions that might help to give more hints are:
What species is the animal? What are the temperature and humidity condition of the enclosure/cage? Have these changed recently? Is the animal held under seasonally changing climatic rhythms (mimicking climatic changes in the natural habitat)? Have you tried different foods, including live insects or worms? Is the animal active and appears healthy except for not feeding? Do you keep other tenrecs except for this one animal? If yes, are they in the same room and same enclosure and same environmental
conditions? Any abnormalities of teeth or jaw?
: I have an 8 year old male tenrec and he has
: loved his food but all of a sudden he is not
: and only drinking a bit of water. His tummy is
: working at all even when he does eat one small
: mouthful. I am so worried about him but not
: sure what to do.
