You're right about Goring's reputation being in disgrace. Philipp enjoyed telling me the 'Meyer' joke. He said they all called Goring that after English bombed Berlin - no doubt calling him Meyer behind his back!

Philipp also told me about a Munich comedian who parodied the top Nazis' useof nice cars. The comdeian would tell his audience, "Guess who I saw in a loooooong car today?. Why a person of no importance!" Later the Gestapo had words with the comedian, who quickly changed the answer to "Why, a National Socialist!" Philipp said everyone knew the comedian was referring to Goring and Hitler.

Haven't contacted the people who knew Philipp yet, but will do so in the next few days.
